This is my second version of this 3DZ and skin pack. I've corrected a couple
things, the speed was a bit too fast, and the hardpoints were in the wrong spot.
I moved the hardpoints and modded the flight file to slow it down, and the
Tonester did the support files and added the stuff for the P38H slot version. So,
this should now be compatible with ECA Panel. Below you will find the readme
from the original files, with a few additions.

Cheers!

Gloster Meteor F. Mk III, 74 Sqn. RAF Colerne, Wiltshire June 1945

74 Squadron was re-equipped as the RAF's third Meteor squadron in June
1945 at Colerne in Wiltshire and formed the first all jet fighter wing
along with 616 and 504 Squadrons.

This is a total upgrade of the Meteor originally created by Charles Gunst
and skinned by Gramps. Charles was quoted in the original readme as saying
it needed an update badly, so here it is. This was originally created for
tha Nachtjager campaign, by The Tonester, Aussie Jim and myself from an idea
by Oberst Herr Shreck.

There are three versions of the Meteor, the P-38 J can be flown in single
mission or campaign. There are also a versions for the B-26 and Mosquito
slots, but these are meant to be used in campaigns only. The Tonester was
kind enough to create all the required files for these, and these can be
utilised using ECA Panel, or manually inserted if you prefer.
========================================================================
INSTALLATION:
1. There are four versions of the Meteor: MeteorB26slot.zip, MeteorMosqslot.zip,
	and MeteorP38Jslot.zip.
2. To use the Meteor in the P-38J slot, unzip it into your EAW folder,
or use your favorite file manager (OAW, STAB, etc...). This can be
used as a single mission or campaign aircraft.
3.To use the Meteor in the P-38H slot, unzip it into your EAW folder,
or use your favorite file manager (OAW, STAB, etc...). This can be
used as a single mission or campaign aircraft.
4. To use the Meteor in the B26 slot or Mosquito Slot: be warned, these can
ONLY be flown in CAMPAIGN MODE!! You CAN NOT fly this in SINGLE MISSION MODE!!
To fly a campaign, unzip the appropriate zipfile into your EAW folder, or
use your favorite file manager (OAW, STAB, etc...).

TO UNINSTALL:
Simply delete all the files that were added, but don't forget the various flight
and dat files, etc. Check the zip files to be certain everything has been removed.
Note: If you use a manager like OAW, all this is done for you!

I'd like to take a moment to thank Col. Gibbon and Chompy for their
advice and tutorials in creating all the 3dz mods, Knegel and Brian Purcell for
help in understanding the flight model stuff. Also I would like to thank
Oberst Herr Shreck and Aussie Jim for their encouragement and advice,
and of course The Tonester, without whom none of this would exist.

Many other people have helped with advice, too many to name here. Suffice
to say I would like to thank everyone at SimHQ, Frugal's, and the EAW Launchpad
(you are the man, VonBeerhofen!), for all the advice and comradery I have
enjoyed over the past 6 months.

Cheers!!!!

THE ORIGINAL README FROM GRAMPS:

This is the Gloster Reaper (Meteor) F.8, or Ground Attack Aircraft, for the Korean Air War project of Microprose's European Air War. The aircraft represented is a fictional Royal Australian Air Force skin, A77-911, circa 1950. It is for the P38H slot in EAW.

The new skin is by me, the 3dz is by Charles Gunst (who says it needs updating badly, which will happen shortly, fingers crossed!), and this zip comes with a new "Meteor" cockpit and wingview, adapted from one of Serb's 262's. Also comes with modifed FM and weapons loadout, courtesy of Flyright.

Thanks guys!

As an alternative, you can decide not to install the modified FM etc, and the aircraft will then use the standard ECAP Meteor III data, and would then represent the very first jet fighter operated by the RAAF in 1946-1947.

The Meteor was the first jet fighter officially taken on by the RAAF, one F.3 being operated from 1946 until February 1947, when it was scrapped after a heavy landing at Darwin. Meteors entered squadron service in 1951 - by which time Vampire jets were also operating with the RAAF.
The first of these Meteors were sent directly to Korea to replace 77 Sqn. Mustangs. As well as its 93 Meteor F.8's, the RAAF operated nine T.7's, and a single NF.11 for missile tests at Weapons Research Establishment (WRE) in the early 1950's.

In 1950, Glosters developed a ground-attack variant of the F.8. The F.8 G-AMCJ (later registered with temporary registration G-7-1) - "Ground Attack Fighter", or "Reaper" received reinforced, larger span wings with wingtip tanks, equipped with hard points for rockets and bombs (24 rockets or up to four 450 kilogram (1,000 pound) bombs). It had some structural reinforcements and additional armor.

It flew for the first time on 4 September 1950 and it was flown in the air shows of Farnborough in the same year and in 1951. In spite of not having received orders for this variant, the acquired experience was important, because soon that capacity would be specified by other Meteor users than the RAF, including Australia.
